当館は9月13日から19日まで、モーリシャス大学と共催、ラックス・リゾート＆ホテルズの協力で、「教えて！ニッポン 第一回ジャパン・スタディ・ウィーク」を開催しました。
OSHIETE! NIPPON – The biggest Japanese cultural event organized in Mauritius up to now was realized between the 13th and the 19th of September 2018 by the fruitful collaboration with the Embassy of Japan, the University of Mauritius, Lux* Resorts and Hotels and many more collaborators.

モーリシャス大学講堂にて、日本から来訪された4名の教授により、日本とモーリシャス関係の知られざる歴史や、モーリシャスと多くの共通点を持つ沖縄の抱える問題、モーリシャス経済と日本経済の比較、日本の超高齢化社会についての講演が行われました。
The event took place on campus of the University of Mauritius and its core part was the academic intervention of four guest speakers from Japan.
Dr Rie Koike from Tokoha University made her presentation on the insularity identity of the Okinawa islands. Dr Kazuyo Ideue from the University of Kyoto had her intervention on the economic development of Mauritius as an African country mentioning Japanese economy in parallel. Dr Ken Masuda from the University of Nagasaki presented the situation and his views on the ageing societies in Japan touching upon Mauritius making the same way while Dr Takeyuki Tokura from the University of Keio, was introducing in his lecture, new information on the hidden historical relations between Japan and Mauritius.
また、17日には大使公邸に政府関係者、当地医療・福祉関係者、外交団等を招き、日本の超高齢化社会をテーマとした講演会とレセプションを開催しました。
モーリシャスでもすでに高齢化が課題となっているため、活発な質疑応答が行われました。
All the lectures aimed at unveiling aspects that could bring the two countries closer. For example, on the 17th of September, a seminar by Dr Masuda around the ageing of societies and the pension for the elderly was held at the Residence of the Ambassador to particularly target government officials, diplomatic corps and medical and welfare sectors. This created a very rich and positive debate between Dr Masuda and the audience.

加えて、大学では茶道やコスプレ、武道のデモンストレーション、おりがみや盆栽、マンガの描き方などのワークショップを開催しました。
特に茶道のデモンストレーションはモーリシャスで初めての開催であり、多くの方々が抹茶とモーリシャスのお菓子、ナポリタンとのハーモニーを楽しんでいました。
さらに、モーリシャスの芸術家や武道家により、モーリシャスにおける日本文化の影響に関する講演が行われました。
Oshiété! Nippon was also the highlight of many newspapers during September due to the cultural activities that were presented such as, the first official Japanese tea ceremony in Mauritius, officiated by Dr Kazuyo Ideue, with the support of the Japanese community in Mauritius. The brilliant example of this beautiful alliance was the experience by the public present at the chanoyu ceremony (Japanese tea ceremony) of matcha (Japanese green tea) and Napolitaine cakes, which are Mauritian cakes. The participation of Mauritian associations and individuals interested in the promotion of Japan and Japanese culture was a very important contribution to the success of the event. For example, bonsai workshop by Xavier de Lapeyre, origami workshop by Nimrode Mourade and his family, and Japanese art collection display by Pascal Soufflet. The Japanese martial arts were promoted by Aslam Jeewa and the Kyokushinkai Martial Arts Federation and Nuvin Proag and the Mauritius Ju Jitsu Federation. The Japanese arts and pop culture were also celebrated through round table by Dr Hans Ramduth, head of the School of Fine Arts, Firoz Ghanty, a comtemporary Mauritian painter who exposed in Tokyo and Laval Ng, comic artist. The latter also presented a workshop on manga drawing. Oshiété! Nippon was closed by a session on the presentation and creation of cosplay artists by the Anime Next Mauritius Association, Kage Bunshin Ltd and Anime Colony Network.

本イベントには合計1,000人以上が来場され、多くの方々に日本を知り、体験してもらう機会となりました。
