OSHIETE! NIPPON – The biggest Japanese cultural event organized in Mauritius up to now was realized between the 11th and the 16th of September 2019 thanks to the fruitful collaboration between the Embassy of Japan, the University of Mauritius and Hennessy Park Hotel.
For the Protocol of this event on 11th, The Hon. Prithvirajsing ROOPUN, Minister of Arts and Culture, Professor Dhanjay JHURRY, CSK, GOSK,Vice-Chancellor of University of Mauritius, The Hon. Yoshiharu KATO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Embassy of Japan in Mauritius and Dr. Sheila Wong, Professor of University of Mauritius gave a short address.

The event started with the seminar by Professor. Koike from Tokoha University and Dr. Ideue from the University of Ritsumeikan and their research team on campus of the University of Mauritius. The contents was the history of KGKK(Kaigai Gyogyo Kabushiki Kaisha) which was implanted in Mauritius for the first time as Japanese overseas fishery company.

Thank to Mauritian associations and individuals interested in the promotion of Japan and Japanese culture, this event ended up in a success.

Cosplay workshop was held at the Hennessy Park Hotel. Many Cosplayers from Mauritius and Reunion Island gathered and exchanged the opinions.

This year, Japanese tea ceremony was presented by Master Kimura from London with his team. All of the lectures and experiences fascinated the guests, especially the experience of drinking Matcha(Japanese Green Tea) and tasting Japanese sweets(Wagashi) which was made by a Japanese Chef.
Government officials and diplomatic corps were invited in the residence of Ambassador on 16th. They enjoyed making tea themselves with the instruction by tea teachers.
