Seminar: Project for Enhancing Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Warning Capabilities

On 17 April, Ambassador KAN, together with Mr Kawol, the Senior Chief Executive of the Ministry of Local Government and Disaster Risk Management, and Dr Booneeady, the Acting Director of Meteorological Services, attended the seminar held in Quatre Bornes to present the achievements and technical background of the JICA Project for Enhancing Meteorological Observation, Weather Forecasting and Warning Capabilities.
The project has been implemented since May 2019 to improve the meteorological forecasting and warning capabilities of MMS by utilising the Meteorological Doppler Radar System completed through the Japanese Grant Assistance. Through this five years technical cooperation project which includes the technical transfer for the operation and management of meteorological radar system as well as data analysis management, contributed to improving disaster risk management capacity of Mauritius.
