On 23 December, the Inauguration ceremony of five thermography cameras and two negative pressure booths was held in Port-Louis in the presence of the Ambassador KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro and the Hon Dr Kailesh Jagutpal, Minister of Health and Wellness.
In his address, the Ambassador stated expectations not only on the equipment which will help Mauritius enhance its capacities to curb the COVID-19 pandemic, but also on stronger bilateral relationship between Japan and Mauritius.
The medical equipment was granted by the Government of Japan to the Republic of Mauritius as a part of the Grant Assistance of 300 million yen signed on 5 August, 2020.
The grant is under the framework of the “Economic and Social Development Programme” for health sector, targeting to reinforce the country’s health system which is overstretched by the COVID-19 pandemic.
