1. What is GGP?

Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) is a small-scale assistance scheme offered by the Government of Japan since 1989. It provides financial support to non-profit organisations for implementing projects aimed for economic and social development at the grassroots level in the areas such as health, education and poverty relief.

2. Applicants

Eligible Not Eligible
  • NGOs (both local and international)
  • Local government offices
  • Educational institutions
  • Medical institutions
 
With at least 2 years background of operation in the sector of the proposed project in Mauritius
  • Individuals
  • Profit organisations





 

3. What GGP funds and does not fund (examples)

(1)  Construction/Renovation of buildings
(2)  Procurement of equipment
(3)  Technical or educational training/workshops to complement the above (1) and/or (2) activities


 
(1)  Office and administrative expenses
(2)  Running and maintenance costs of equipment and facilities
(3)  Academic Research
(4)  Consumables
(5)  VAT
(6)  Only soft components such as capacity building and advocacy

4. Available Funds

The maximum grant amount per project is 10 million Japanese yen (approximately MUR 3 million).
