His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday Reception


On 23rd February 2023, the National Day Reception was held at the residence of the Ambassador, to celebrate His Majesty the Emperor’s 63rd birthday.
H.E. Mr. KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Amabassador of Japan to Mauritius, received H.E. Mr. Prithvirajsing ROOPUN, President of the Republic of Mauritius, The Hon. Mr. Pravind Kumar JUGNAUTH, Prime Minister, H.E. Mr. Eddy BOISSEZON, Vice President, The Hon. Mr. Steven OBEEGADOO, Deputy Prime Minister, The Hon. Mr. Mahen Kumar SEERUTTUN, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, Heads of the diplomatic missions and International organizations, and other personalities on the occasion.
The national anthems of both Japan and Mauritius were played by Ambassador’s violin at the ceremony. In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted his aim, as the Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, is to attract more Japanese investors and tourists to Mauritius. The Ambassador also emphasized his willingness for further efforts for deepening the bilateral relationship through not only economic cooperation but also political and cultural exchange. Lastly, the Ambassador wished the prosperity of both countries and wellbeing of their people.

In the reception, Toyota Mauritius Co. Ltd, ABC Motors Co. Ltd, AG Melco Elevator (Mauritius) Ltd, JKalachand, Leal & Co. Ltd, Axess Mauritius, CEFAO, MOL Mauritius (Mitsui O.S.K.Lines), Ruben Racing Ltd and Taiyo A&F introduced their activities and displayed the latest models of their products.
At this occasion, the Embassy introduced some Japanese culture such as Hina-Ningyo (Dolls which depict the imperial court of Japan) and Sado (Tea Ceremony) to offer the guests experience of Japanese culture. In addition, the guests were able to taste Japanese famous Sake and Whisky.
