On 20 April 2023, Mr. KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mauritius, and the Honourable Pravind Kumar JUGNAUTH, the Prime Minister attended the handover ceremony of two high speed boats in Port Louis.

Japan provided grant assistance of 300 million Japanese Yen to strengthen Mauritius’s maritime security capacity through the "Economic and Social Development Programme" . Under this programme, the Mauritius National Coast Guard is now equipped with two Yamaha High Speed Boat 1202.
