The First Meeting of the Japan-Mauritius Business Promotion Committee

On Friday 20th October, The First Meeting of the Japan-Mauritius Business Promotion Committee, co-chaired by H.E. Mr. KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Mauritius, and Mr. Joyker Nayeck, Secretary for Foreign Affairs.
1 . The Meeting was attended by the Embassy of Japan in Mauritius and JETRO South Africa on the Japanese side. On the Mauritian side, the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, the Ministry of Financial Services and Good Governance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, and the Economic Development Board were in attendance.
2. The two sides agreed that, in addition to the development of an investment environment to assist Japanese companies and solve their business issues, the Committee would also need to consider investment promotion initiatives, with a focus on the possibilities of Japanese business investment into Africa via Mauritius.
3. Information was exchanged in relation to investment protection, as well as the Public-Private Investment and Trade Promotion Mission to Japan, which is scheduled to take place in November.
4. Continuous dialogue through this Committee is expected to lead to business development and initiatives to facilitate investment and trade between the two countries.
