On 27 November 2023, the inauguration ceremony of the Catheterization Laboratory was held at the Trust Fund for Specialised Medical Care, Cardiac Centre, in Pamplemousses, in the presence of Mr KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mauritius, the Hon Dr Kailesh Jagutpal, the Minister of Health and Wellness and the Hon Mr Sharvanand Ramkaun the Parliamentary Private Secretary.
In August 2020, Japan provided grant assistance of 300 million Japanese Yen to strengthen the capacity of medical care system of Mauritius through the "Economic and Social Development Programme”. The Catheterization Laboratory in the Cardiac Centre was inaugurated with the Canon Angiography procured under this programme.
