Signing Ceremony of GGP/KUSANONE: “The Project for the Provision of Medical Equipment and Improvement in Accessibility at APSA Diabetes Care Centre”

On 11 January 2024, the signing ceremony of the grant contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held at the residence of the Ambassador. The grant contract was signed by Mr. KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Mrs. Audrey Hardy, President of Association pour la Promotion de la Sante (APSA International).
 
The activities of APSA International include consultations, foot-care treatment, neuro-rehabilitation programs, nutrition workshops and educational group sessions for Type 2 diabetes at APSA Diabetes Care Centre at Trianon and its branch in Black River, and through community visits by the Foot Care Caravan. This project will be the third one with APSA International following the previous two projects including aimed for the construction of the Centre in Trianon in 2009 and 2012.
 
Through “The Project for the Provision of Medical Equipment and Improvement in Accessibility at APSA Diabetes Care Centre”, the NGO will receive the grant of 57,741 euros (approximately 2.6 million rupees). The grant will be used to equip one ultrasound machine, two Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABPI) and installation of drop-off zone at the Centre in Trianon. Upon completion of the project, the NGO will be able to provide more beneficiaries with more efficient and accurate screenings and better access to the centre. The implementation of the project is also expected to contribute for the early detection of diabetes and its complications and improvement in public health.
