Signing Ceremony of GGP/KUSANONE: “The Project for the Provision of Vehicle for Social Rehabilitation Support”

On 11 January 2024, the signing ceremony of the grant contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held in Port Louis. The grant contract was signed by Mr. KAWAGUCHI Shuichiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Mrs. Luxshmee Ramdhun Bundhun, President of the Humanitarian, Education and Liberation Project. Hon. Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity, Hon. Dr. Marie Christiane Dorine Chukowry, Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Hon. Ms Teenah Jutton, Parliamentary Private Secretary and other relevant stakeholders were present at the ceremony.
The activities which the NGO provides include counselling, rehabilitation and home visits for follow-up to beneficiaries who are struggling with drug addiction and their family to prevent relapse cases and promote social reintegration.
Through “The Project for the Provision of Vehicle for Social Rehabilitation Support”, the NGO will receive the grant of 20,176 euros (approximately 930,000 rupees). The grant will be used to equip one 7-seater vehicle. Upon completion of the project, the NGO will be able to provide free-of-charge transportation to beneficiaries who need the transportation to receive continuous treatments at the day care centers to overcome drug addiction and reintegrate into society.
