On 29th February 2024, the National Day Reception was held at the residence of the Ambassador, to celebrate the 64th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor.

On this occasion, Mr. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, received H.E. Prithvirajsing ROOPUN, President of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E. Eddy BOISSEZON, Vice President, the Hon. Steven OBEEGADOO, Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Alan GANOO, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, Heads of the diplomatic missions and other distinguished guests from various sectors including the business communities.

In his remarks, the Ambassador expressed his heartfelt wishes to His Majesty the Emperor on his 64th birthday. He also wished the prosperity of both countries and happiness of their people. Furthermore, Mr. KAN highlighted his determination to do his utmost to further deepen the bilateral relationship between Japan and Mauritius as his mission as the Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius.

During the event, the Embassy also introduced some Japanese culture such as Ikebana (Japanese art of flower arrangement) and Hina-Ningyo (dolls which depict the imperial court of Japan). The guests enjoyed the tasting of Japanese sake (rice wine) and whisky. Furthermore, Japanese companies introduced their activities.
