Handover ceremony for JICA project for Enhancement of Institutional Capacity on Oil Spill Response for the Republic of Mauritius

On 4 April, Ambassador KAN together with the Honourable Kavydass Ramano, the Minister of Envionment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, and Capt Binoop, the Commandant of the National Coast Guard attended the handover ceremony of oil spill combat equipment held under the JICA’s technical assistance project for ‘Enhancement of institutional capacity on oil spill response for the Republic of Mauritius’ at the Pollution Response Unit of the National Coast Guard in Port Louis.
In addition to the surveys and trainings that the project has carried out, this provision of equipment such as oil fence, oil adsorbent and a storage container will further strengthen Mauritius' capacity to combat oil spill.
