The Japanese Film Festival – Special Edition

On Saturday 30th March, the Japanese Film Festival – Special Edition was held at the Mcine in Trianon with the projection of the film “The Boy and the Heron.” This animated film is the latest movie of Studio Ghibli and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The Japanese Film Festival has been organised since 2018 with great demand and success, and the aim of the festival is to promote the understanding of Japanese culture in Mauritius through Japanese films.

Before its screening, Ambassador KAN delivered his speech and reminded participants to pay attention to the essence of the movie, which aims at helping humanity to think on “How do you live” which is the Japanese name of the film.  

The film has been receiving awards and accolades worldwide such as the Best Animated Feature at the USA Academy Awards (Oscars), the BAFTA Awards and at the Golden Globes.

The festival was broadcasted on Mauritius Broadcast Corporation (MBC)
