Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2024

On 1 August 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan announced the recipients of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for 2024. In Mauritius, the award was presented to Dr Didier SAMFAT, who has contributed to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between Japan and Mauritius through the popularization of karate.
On 9 September 2024, the Embassy held a ceremony at the Ambassador’s Residence to present Dr SAMFAT with the award certificate of commendation. In the presence of Dr SAMFAT's family and friends, Ambassador KAN delivered a congratulatory address and Dr SAMFAT spoke about the background to the establishment of the Japan Karate Association Mauritius Branch (JKA Mauritius) and the friendly relationship between Japan and Mauritius.
