Attendance to the Opening of the Workshops on Fiscal Risk Management and on Gender and Inequality and Macroeconomics by the International Monetary Fund (IMF)

On 4 November, Ambassador Kan gave speeches at the opening ceremony for the Workshops on Fiscal Risk Management and on Gender and Inequality and Macroeconomics held by the Regional Technical Assistance Centre for Southern Africa(AFRITAC South) and the Africa Training Institute(ATI) under the IMF.
At the Workshop on Fiscal Risk Management, Climate Public Investment Management Assessment (C-PIMA) Handbook was launched, for which the Ministry of Finance, Japan supported its development. Through the 4-days trainings, 24 participants from Lusophone and Francophone countries will learn about quantification and mitigation of fiscal risks incorporating viewpoints in terms of climate change.
At the opening session, Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, the Director of the AFRITAC South, and Ms.Cigdem Aslan, the Division Chief of IMF’s Fiscal Affairs Department, expressed their appreciation for Japan’s contribution to the IMF’s capacity development programmes, including C-PIMA Handbook.
Ambassador Kan emphasized the increasing importance of climate change in fiscal risk management to realize sustainable society and encouraged the participants to learn well from the Workshop.
At the Workshop on Gender and Inequality and Macroeconomics, Ambassador Kan stated the significance of promoting gender equality, referring to his own experience at the Ministry of Finance, Japan, the World Bank and in Mauritius.
