Rodrigues Visit

On 7 November, Ambassador KAN visited Rodrigues and paid a courtesy call to Franceau Aubret Grandcourt, Chief Commissioner of Rodrigues. The two exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the development of friendly relations between Rodrigues and Japan through academic exchanges, and the importance of maritime safety and food security in the vast exclusive economic zone surrounding the island.

On 6^th November 2024, the signing ceremony of the grant contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held at Rodrigues Central Administration, Port Mathurin. The grant contract was signed by Mr. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Mr. Jean Frederic Ravina, President of Rodrigues Regional Youth Council (RRYC) in the presence of Mr. Joseph Varok Ravina, Commissioner for Youth and Sport and Others, Mr. Joseph Christian Leopold, G.O.S.K, Chairperson of Rodrigues Regional Assembly and other relevant stakeholders.
The next day, Ambassador KAN visited the woodwork training school, observed the training, and interacted with the principal and trainees.

On 7 November, Ambassador KAN toured the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the only public hospital in Rodrigues. This is the hospital where The Project for Introducing Digital Mammography Equipment in Queen Elizabeth Hospital was implemented under the 2019 Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP), supporting women on Rodrigues Island.
