On 19th November 2024, the handover ceremony for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held in Port Louis in the presence of H.E. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Mrs. Luxshmee Ramdhun Bundhun, President of the Humanitarian, Education and Liberation Project and other relevant stakeholders.

Under “The Project for the Provision of Vehicle for Social Rehabilitation Support”, the NGO received a grant of 20,176 euros, or approximately 1 million rupees, to introduce transport support service through the acquisition of a 7-seater vehicle.

The NGO’s initiatives include counselling, rehabilitation and home visits to beneficiaries who are struggling with substance abuse and their families to prevent relapse cases and promote social reintegration. However, in the past, the organisation was not able to provide transport for beneficiaries to treatment centres and some of them relapsed after stopping the treatment.

The NGO is now able to provide free-of-charge transport to those beneficiaries who need it in order to receive continuous treatment at the day-care centres so that they can overcome drug addiction and reintegrate into society.
