On December 24, Ambassador KAN paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Hungley, the Vice President of the Republic of Mauritius. Ambassador KAN and Vice-President Hungley confirmed that Mauritius is an important partner for Japan in promoting a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP) and occupies an important strategic location as a gateway for investment in Africa and India. They agreed on the importance of further developing the strong friendly bilateral relationship.
