Courtesy call on Dr the Honourable Prime Minister Ramgoolam

On February 10, Ambassador KAN paid a courtesy call on Dr the Honourable Prime Minister Ramgoolam. Ambassador KAN confirmed that Mauritius is an important partner in promoting Japan's vision of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" (FOIP), and shared that Mauritius occupies an important strategic position as a gateway for investment in Africa.
They exchanged views on a wide range of issues regarding strengthening of the relationship and cooperation between Japan and Mauritius, including Japan's cooperation to Mauritius in the area of maritime security in particular, as well as economic exchanges and the opening of Embassy of Mauritius in Tokyo.
Furthermore, they agreed to further strengthen the bilateral relations with a view to Mauritius' participation in 2025 Osaka/Kansai Expo and TICAD9, and to continue to work closely together amidst the complex international situation.
