Japan Film Festival - Special Edition Screening of ‘Summer Wars’ by Mamoru Hosoda

On 30 March 2025, the Embassy of Japan in Mauritius held a special screening of a Japanese animation movie, ‘Summer Wars’ by the director Mamoru Hosoda at the Caudan Arts Centre in Port Louis.
The Japan Film Festival has been held in Mauritius since 2018, with the aim of promoting understanding of Japanese culture through Japanese films.

The audience was very satisfied with the experience, which not only allowed them to enjoy the wonderful animation techniques, but also to immerse themselves in an emotionally stirring experience.
Ambassador KAN Masahiro expressed in his opening speech that the event would help to promote various aspects of Japanese culture to the people of Mauritius and contribute to strengthening bilateral relation

After the screening of the film, a short debate was held with the collaboration of Mr Chinnapen and Mr Buchoo of Geekin'Moris, an association actively involved in promoting pop culture in Mauritius. The Embassy of Japan was represented by Tatsuya Emoto and Yavin Coopan.
