4th JKA Mauritius Cup

On 11 May, 2025, Mr. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Mauritius attended the 4th Japan Karate Association (JKA) Mauritius Cup at the Côte d’Or Multisport Centre, Moka and the categories of competition comprised of kata and kumite.
Ambassador Kan made a speech and spoke of the values of respect, discipline, patience and confidence inherent to the martial arts. He reminded of the importance of living up to the rich values transmitted through martial arts.
Hon. Karen FOO-KUNE-BACHA, Junior Minister of Youth and Sports gave a speech, thanking JKA Mauritius and the Embassy of Japan for the event. Dr. Didier SAMFAT, President of JKA Mauritius made opening remarks of the tournament and conducted the competition. Mr. Iqbal CALCATEEA, Chairman of the Mauritius Sports Council, was also present for the occasion.
The JKA Mauritius team comprised of 20 karatekas from different categories will be representing Mauritius at the upcoming JKA Africa Cup in Johannesburg, South Africa from 19th to 25th May.
Ambassador KAN and Chairman CALCATEEA were invited to remit medals and trophies to the top participants of the younger categories.
