Opening Ceremony of UNODC Training for Maritime Law Enforcement

 On May 27, Mr KAN Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Mauritius, together with Mr. Rajendra Gupta Ramnarain, Acting Director, Customs, Mauritius Revenue Authority and Captain C.G. Binoop, Commandant, National Coast Guard, attended the opening ceremony of a training program in Mauritius. The training is part of the project "Improving sustainability of maritime law enforcement agencies in East Africa through standardization and advanced skills for employment of technology " supported by the Japanese government through the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
 This training program will provide officers from the Mauritius Customs and the Coast Guard with courses and practical training in areas such as boat coxswain, search and seizure. The program is aligned with Japan’s vision to enhancing the capacity of maritime law enforcement agencies in the Indian Ocean to respond to maritime crimes, contributing to maritime safety in the Indian Ocean and surrounding waters.
