Shotokan karate and kendo Republic cup 2025

On the 1st of June, 2025, Mr. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Mauritius attended the Shotokan karate and kendo Republic cup 2025 that was held in the hall of the Hindu House in Cassis, Port-Louis.
Ambassador Kan made a speech to encourage the 100 martial art practitioners, aged as from 7 years old. His Excellency wished the participants the best in their competition of kata and kumite but also highlighted the importance given to the principles and values of Shotokan karate. The Ambassador also reminded the audience of the support that the Kendo martial art has been receiving from the Embassy of Japan since its introduction in Mauritius, in 2018.
The president of the Shotokan Martial Arts Federation (SMAF) and Kendo Federation Mauritius (KFM), expressed gratitude for the Ambassador’s participation. Mr Rishi Bundhoo explained in his speech that the presence of the Ambassador was a very important motivation for this Federation and their members.
