On 5th December 2025, the signing ceremony of the grant contract for the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) was held at the Fraternité Mauricienne Des Malades et Handicapés (FMMH) in Grand River North West (GRNO). The grant contract was signed by H.E. Mr. KAN Masahiro, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Mauritius and Mr. Jean-Francois Favory, President of Fraternité Mauricienne Des Malades et Handicapés (FMMH).
Fraternité Mauricienne Des Malades et Handicapés (FMMH) provides free programs to support the independence of individuals with disabilities, including life and communication skills, as well as employment support through work experience placements in companies.
Through “The Project for the Provision of a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle in GRNO”, with financial support amounting to €40,549, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle (which can accommodate 4 wheelchairs, with a total capacity of 6 persons (including wheelchair users)) will be provided to the NGO.
This will enable persons with disabilities to access safe transportation as well as training, education, and other forms of support aimed at promoting their autonomy. Furthermore, as the transportation service currently remains suspended, its resumption is expected to contribute to enhancing the independence and social participation of persons with disabilities in the community.
