Courtesy call on Dr Muthoora Thakoor, Governor, Bank of Mauritius

On January 23, Ambassador KAN paid a courtesy call on Dr Muthoora Thakoor, the Governor of the Bank of Mauritius. At the beginning, Ambassador Kan recalled the excellent bilateral relations symbolized by Prime Minister Ramgoolam's visit to Japan for TICAD 9 last year and the opening of the Mauritius Embassy in Japan, while Governor Muthoora Thakoor expressed her gratitude for Japan's cooperation with Mauritius in improving its financial management capacity.  Ambassador Kan and Governor Muthoora Thakoor also exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including Mauritius' monetary and fiscal policies, Mauritius' role as a financial hub, and the challenges and prospects for the central bank and possible future collaboration between Japan and Mauritius.
