2026/1/24
On 24 January 2026, the Japanese Film Festival (JFF) – Mauritian Public’s Choice was held at the MCine cinema theatre in Trianon, featuring the screening of the film Perfect Days.
The film was selected in response to a survey conducted during the previous Japanese Film Festival held in October last year.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Kan introduced Mr. Koji Yakusho, the lead actor of Perfect Days and the recipient of the Best Actor award at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. He noted that the film’s quiet and profound portrayal offers the audience an opportunity to reflect on their own “perfect day” and encourages them to live their daily lives with greater mindfulness and intention.
Commitment was also reaffirmed to further strengthen the long-standing cultural exchanges and bilateral relations between Japan and Mauritius.
