On 27th April, Ambassador KAN, together with the Honorouble Dr. Boolell, the Minister of Agro-Industry, Food Security, Blue Economy and Fisheries attended the certificate award ceremony for the fish processing business training held under the JICA’s technical assistance project for “The Project for the Improvement of Livelihood of Coastal Communities Through Sustainable Development of Blue Economy”
The training was organised with the aim of increasing income and diversifying livelihoods within coastal fishing communities. It was designed to help participants—who had previously relied on the sale of fresh fish—to add value by processing and selling fish, thereby expanding their revenue opportunities as small-scale businesses. A total of 81 participants successfully completed the training.
At the ceremony, equipment such as a kitchen trailer was handed over, and participants enjoyed fried fish prepared using the provided equipment. Going forward, this equipment will be used by coastal fishing communities to sell processed fish products.
