Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2021

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarship programmes to international students who wish to study in Japan as Undergraduate Students, Specialized Training College Students and Research Students (either regular students or non-regular students).

Application and selection schedules for Mauritian nationals are as follows:

1st June ~ 31st July 2020
Submission of Application form by applicants

By 14th August 2020
Notification of the result of Preliminary Screening

24th August ~ 4th September 2020
First Screening of Applicants : Written examinations and interview
(Date and venue will be notified to the candidates who passed the preliminary screening.)

By 11th September 2020
Notification of the result of the First Screening.

Submission of Provisional Acceptance and Placement Form

*In some circumstances such as travel restrictions or lockdown, there are possibilities that the selection process would be cancelled or applicants would not be allowed to come to Japan even after being selected as scholarship students.

The applicants who passed the First Screening shall proceed with the necessary procedures according to the Application Guidelines and by the instructions of the Embassy of Japan.
The persons who wish to apply for the scholarship shall read the Guidelines attentively and submit the application documents by the closing date of 31st July 2020.

The forms for the MEXT scholarship must be fully filled as directed in the Guideline.
Incomplete application forms shall be deemed invalid.
